Alison Müller

PhD

Knowledge Mobilization Specialist

During her time as a PhD student, Dr. Alison Müller discovered her passion for science communication, especially when explaining her tissue-engineering-focused research project. Since then, she has been enthusiastically involved in both independent and collaborative science communication ventures across Canada, including presenting on tissue engineering, gene-editing technology, stem cell research and ethics, digital health communications, and other novel biotechnology discoveries to a variety of audiences including elementary and high school kids, undergraduate and graduate students, and bar patrons. She has appeared on CBC Radio discussing science fiction inspired medical technology to promote her panel talks at several comic conventions and the Nerdin’ About podcast discussing virtual health care in the 21st century. She is the Chair of Science Slam Canada, a non-profit organization focused on connecting communities and promote civic science literacy and engagement through fun and informative Science Slam shows.

She completed her PhD in Physiology at the University of Alberta and then completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of British Columbia on virtual health communications during the pandemic. After working in communications within the clinical health-care space she focused on improving her knowledge mobilization skills and earned a certificate in Biomedical Visualization and Communications at the University of British Columbia.
