Dr. Amanda D. Boyd is the Executive Director of Native American Programs at Washington State University. She is also a Professor in the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine and Affiliated Faculty in the Edward R. Murrow College of Communication.
A citizen of the Métis Nation of Alberta, Dr. Boyd brings 20 years of experience working with rural and Indigenous communities across the United States and Canada.
Her interdisciplinary research focuses on health, risk, and science communication with Indigenous populations, drawing from communication, Indigenous sciences, management studies, and rural sociology. Her work emphasizes increasing diversity in clinical studies, advancing communication about health and environmental risks, biomarkers, and genetics.
Dr. Boyd is an elected member of the Washington State Academy of Sciences and serves on the Standing Committee for the Advancement of Science Communication at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. She is particularly committed to developing culturally grounded, community-engaged approaches that reflect Indigenous priorities, knowledge systems, and lived experiences.
