Saemi is a doctoral researcher at the Digital Democracies Institute and a 2023 CERi Fellow. Originally trained as a professional pianist, Saemi spent a decade working as a financial journalist before returning to academia to examine the social implications of artificial intelligence. Her research focuses on technology and society, social media studies, platform technologies, and datafied education. Her work has been published in the International Journal of Communication and Catalyst: Feminism, Theory, Technoscience, and she has engaged with policy agencies including the Information Commissioner’s Office in the UK. Saemi is committed to bridging academia and the broader public, with a focus on amplifying the voices and experiences of marginalized communities.
