Cindy Jardine

Professor and Tier I Canada Research Chair in Health and Community, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of the Fraser Valley
Research Focus
Environmental health risk communication
Dr. Cindy Jardine’s research program involves health risk communication with ‘at-risk’ and/or structurally disadvantaged communities and populations, with a specific focus on addressing inequities. Much of her work is done in partnership with Indigenous Peoples and immigrant communities, primarily in the areas of Indigenous youth mental wellness, immunization decision-making and epidemic/pandemic risk communication. Dr. Jardine endeavours to use a strength-based approach in the development of communications, interventions and/or policies that recognizes the cultural knowledge, skills, abilities, potential, and support networks inherent to individuals and populations, and promotes agency over their own risks.
